Creamy Cabbage Slaw

Using our Citrus Crema gives the slaw a rich, smooth texture. You just need a little planning to allow the Citrus Crema to set and marinate overnight before using. This slaw is perfect for topping Grilled Shrimp Tacos, Pulled Pork Tostadas, and sliders, adding a crunch and a tangy contrast to rich meats or seafood.

Main Ingredients:

Green Cabbage: provides the base of the slaw, giving it a crisp texture and a mild, slightly peppery flavor. Shaving the cabbage thinly helps it absorb the dressing, resulting in a creamy yet crunchy slaw.

Citrus Crema: is the sauce that binds all the ingredients together with its smooth, tangy flavor. This extremely versatile sauce is easy to make and has a great shelf life in the fridge. It just needs a little planning to allow to the flavors to set and marinate overnight.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 head green cabbage

  • 1/2 red onion

  • 1/2 cup cilantro, torn leaves

  • 3/4 tsp salt

  • 5 tbsp Citrus Crema

  • 2 tsp lime juice

Method

  • Shave the Cabbage and Onion: Using a mandolin, carefully shave the green cabbage and red onion into very thin slices. This will help the vegetables absorb the dressing better and ensure a uniform texture.ColeslawFFG 1
  • Mix the Ingredients: Combine the shaved cabbage and red onion in a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle the salt evenly over the vegetables, then add the Citrus Crema and lime juice. Mix thoroughly until the cabbage and onion are well coated with the dressing.
  • Fold in the Cilantro: Gently fold in the torn cilantro, mixing just until combined.
  • Adjust Seasoning: Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed, adding more salt or lime juice to taste.
  • Serve or Store: The slaw can be served immediately for a fresh, crisp texture or allowed to sit for up to an hour to let the flavors merry. It will soften up a bit, and the volume will crash slightly. If making ahead, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.ColeslawFFG 2
